Boosting Healthcare Investment: 4 Technique You Need to know
August 16, 2022Fire safety licensing- A must for hospitals
August 18, 2022Hospitals are no longer grey and white buildings which are associated with scrambling, chaos, stench of disinfectant and an atmosphere of anxiety. Hospital interior design has undergone a massive transition in this era. Most new-fangled hospitals are designed to be ambient and elegant as well as being functional and comfortable. They have finally become the oases of healing and well-being as hospital interior design experts have started incorporating elements that improve mood, enhance positivity and augment recovery.
Four transitions
1. Colour consciousness
In earlier days, hospitals used to be painted in an unimaginative white or grey. However, today, we have realized the relationship between colours and moods. Hospital interior design experts are using colours of walls, fabrics, and material to enhance the speed of healing. The colour blue enhances serenity and calmness. The colour green is associated with rejuvenation and growth and triggers a spirit of positivity. Yellow and peach can brighten up the space and bring in the spirit of cheer and optimism. Choose such colours for your waiting rooms and patient rooms instead of drab whites.
2. Nature element
Nothing heals like nature does. Hospital interior designing has realized the potential of nature in healing. To unleash this goodness, more and more elements of nature are finding a place on interior design masterplans. This can be seen in the use of skylights or domes to harness natural sunlight and in the use of natural plants to decorate waiting rooms and also in vertical garden stands and waterfalls and fountains in communal areas.
3. Idea of space
Crowded waiting rooms and packed lobbies are no longer safe, especially after the pandemic taught us a lesson in social distancing. Hospital interior design has evolved to rethink the spaciousness of common rooms in the hospital. Special provision is made for social distancing by using separators. The seating is kept simple and minimalistic and a few items of décor are displayed to add an aura of charm.
4. Materials used
Hospital Interior design of modern times consciously makes use of material which are sustainable and eco-friendly like wood, bamboo, cane etc. The floor is fitted with anti-slip tiles to prevent falls which are also resistant to constant disinfection. Surfaces are designed with material that is naturally resistant to bacterial growth.
To summarize, your hospital’s interior design can not only make a statement about your hospital’s vision and ethos, but it can also enhance your patients’ overall wellbeing.
